Job Description: Veterinary Technician Supervisor
Position Overview:
The Veterinary Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing a team of veterinary technicians in a veterinary medicine setting. This role involves providing guidance, support, and leadership to ensure the smooth functioning of the veterinary technician team. The Veterinary Technician Supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest level of patient care and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and direct the daily activities of veterinary technicians, including task assignment, scheduling, and performance management.
2. Train and mentor new veterinary technicians, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and best practices.
3. Monitor and evaluate the performance of veterinary technicians, providing regular feedback, coaching, and facilitating professional development opportunities.
4. Collaborate with the veterinary medicine team to develop and implement effective treatment plans for patients, ensuring compliance with veterinary protocols and standards of care.
5. Ensure the proper handling and administration of medications, vaccinations, diagnostic procedures, and surgical preparations.
6. Oversee inventory management, including ordering and restocking veterinary supplies, medications, and equipment.
7. Maintain accurate patient records, including medical histories, diagnostic results, and treatment plans, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
8. Coordinate with veterinary technicians and other team members to ensure efficient patient flow and timely completion of tasks.
9. Assist with various veterinary procedures, including but not limited to anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, dental cleanings, and laboratory procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field.
2. Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential.
3. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a veterinary technician, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
4. Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine principles, procedures, and protocols.
5. Proficiency in handling and restraining animals of various sizes and temperaments.
6. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
7. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team and provide clear instructions.
9. Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations, while ensuring the safety and well-being of animals and team members.
10. Proficient in using veterinary software and other relevant computer applications.
11. Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations related to veterinary medicine.
